Meet Eminence Transports Operations Compliance Manager – Mark Austin!

Joining Eminence Transport in in January 2024, Mark has bought a wealth of experience to the team. He has over 20 years’ experience within the field and has enjoyed getting straight in to business since joining.

We sat down with Mark to discuss all things transport.

  1. How has the first quarter of the year been for you at Eminence Transport?

It has been a very busy and challenging first half of the year for everyone here at Eminence, all of which has been incredibly interesting and exciting to be a part of. There is so many variables when you are working within the transport sector and especially with us being based in Kent we have extra challenges when trying to navigate our way through London. We have tackled every challenge head on an found a solution which is a very rewarding part of the job. We have a fantastic team at Eminence too which enables us to have a happy and healthy working environment.

     

         2. What are your main roles and responsibilities?

    As Operations Compliance Manager, my main roles are leading and delivering Eminence Transport’s sustainable growth and business performance through effective management of the Transport (General Haulage, Pallet Network Multidrop, Container Haulage) and Warehouse Fulfilment Operations.

    I am responsible for ensuring delivery of agreed service and operation levels. Building trusted relationships with suppliers and customers building on service and efficiency.

         3. What does a normal working week look like for you?

    Managing and monitoring the workings of the Transport and Warehousing operating departments in the organization to ensure everything is running smoothly. As well as Monitoring, managing and improving the efficiency of support services.

    I have been developing strong control capability through effective performance management, mentoring and development of the team which is proving to be a huge success.

    Finally I provide Strategic Input by liaising with the General Manager to assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity and then Implementing and managing the operational plans.

         4.What previous experience do you have?

    My experience has been gained over 20 years of owning, directing and managing the execution of innovative operational strategies within the Logistics (Courier, and Express Road Transport) and warehousing environment, predominately in the South of Africa. Directing various Operations and Business development projects from inception to completion. Driving operational strategies, strategic business development and growth through innovative and turnkey solutions.

    Upon arriving in the UK in 2020, I was given the opportunity to join a privately owned business specializing in the ecommerce returns sector and B2B fulfilment and Amazon FBAs, setting up a global footprint of independently owned partners companies providing the services on the companies behalf.
